Thomas Steger (born March 5, 1992 in Jenbach ) is an Austrian triathlete and reigning national champion in the triathlon middle distance (2015, 2019).

Career

Steger has been running triathlons since 2012 and he started for the Wave Tri Team Wörgl . Heidi Steinacher trains him in swimming.

In 2014, Steger became European Triathlon Champion in Kitzbühel in the age group 20-24.

State champion triathlon middle distance 2015

In May 2015 the 23-year-old finished fifth at the European Championships in the triathlon middle distance. In July in Obertrum am See he won the title at the state championship in the triathlon middle distance.

In May 2016, Thomas Steger was third in the middle distance at Ironman 70.3 in Mallorca (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running). In September he came third at the European Championships on the half-distance triathlon at Walchsee and two weeks later he won the Challenge Gran Canaria .

For July 2018 he announced his first start on the long distance at Ironman Austria (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42 km running), where he could not finish the race.
In August 2019, the 27-year-old became triathlon state champion for the second time after 2015 in the middle distance in Vorarlberg at the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon .

Thomas Steger starts for the Austrian pewag racing team of the chain manufacturer pewag . He is in a relationship with the triathlete Lisa-Maria Dornauer (* 1992).
