Georg Swoboda (born April 10, 1978 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian triathlete . He is four-time national champion in the long distance triathlon (2012-2015) and he is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Georg Swoboda started his first triathlon in 2000 and in 2004 in Roth for the first time on the long distance, where he finished 44th (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running).

2006 doping ban

In August 2006, after his victory at the Austria Triathlon, he was positively tested for the banned active ingredient mesterolone during a doping control and the title of national champion was revoked. The Austrian Triathlon Association (ÖTRV) imposed a two-year ban.

After the end of his doping ban, Swoboda started again as a professional triathlete in 2008. Swoboda has been in the "long distance" squad of the ÖTRV since the 2013 season .

State champion triathlon long distance 2012–2015

In August 2012 he became national champion in the long distance and in 2013, 2014 (with a new course record) and 2015 he was able to successfully defend this title at the Austria Triathlon.

In August 2017, the then 39-year-old took third place in the Austria Triathlon and won the title of Vice State Champion in the long distance. Georg Swoboda has not appeared internationally since 2017.

His nickname is Schurli . He lives in Vösendorf and starts for the association Top Team Tri Niederösterreich .
Since 2014 he has been organizing the “Zehntel-Man” in Vösendorf; In this triathlon, a tenth of the Ironman distance is completed (380 m swimming, 18 km cycling and 4.2 km running).
