Paul Reitmayr (born December 18, 1984 in Bregenz ) is a former Austrian triathlete . He is national champion in the Olympic distance (2007), national champion in the triathlon sprint distance (2013) and he is ranked sixth in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance . Career

Paul Reitmayr grew up in Dornbirn and was active in the local club in the gymnastics and swimming department. He then attended a sports high school and trained there running and triathlon. In 2001 he was accepted into the squad of the Austrian Triathlon Association. Since graduating from high school in 2003, he has been at the Army Sports Center in Dornbirn, where he is trained by Julius Benkö, among others.

Triathlon national champion short distance 2007

In 2007 he became the Austrian triathlon state champion at the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and in 2008 and 2010 he won the runner-up title on the Danube Island in Vienna.

In July 2010 Reitmayr was the only Austrian starter to improve his fourth place at the Continental Cup in Kazakhstan by around 300 places in the World Cup ranking, making him the third-best Austrian behind Andreas Giglmayr and Franz Höfer .

Triathlon state champion sprint distance 2013

At the Wörthersee Triathlon, he became national champion on the sprint distance in May 2013. In August 2014 he finished 15th at the Ironman 70.3 in Wiesbaden at the European Championships over half the Ironman distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running).

In June 2015 he won the Ironman 70.3 Italy in the middle distance and three weeks later he was third in Norway at the Ironman 70.3 Norway .

Long distance since 2016

In June 2016 he started the Ironman distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42 km running) at Ironman Austria in Klagenfurt and was able to achieve sixth place. As the second-best Austrian, he became vice national champion in the long-distance triathlon and his time of 8:19 is Vorarlberg's best performance over the long distance.

He also achieved three podium finishes over the Ironman 70.3 distance in St. Pölten (3rd place), Pescara (Italy, 2nd place) and Dublin (Ireland, 3rd place).

Reitmayr is a member of the Skinfit Racing Team and in 2016 he took over the team management from Dominik Berger . He is also in the long distance national team of the ÖTRV and in the German Triathlon Bundesliga he competes for the WMF BKK Team AST Süßen . Paul Reitmayr is trained by Lubos Bilek . Reitmayr had to cancel a planned start at Ironman Austria 2017 after an operation on the ankle. At Ironman Austria 2018 he finished 14th in July.

In August 2019 he announced that he would end his active career at the end of the 2019 season and on August 18, the 34-year-old declared his active time over.

Paul Reitmayr has been married since July 2017 and has had a son since June 2018. He lives in Dornbirn and works as an AHS teacher.
