This triathlon competition was held six times between 2001 and 2006 over the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) with international participation.
2004 won the German Faris Al-Sultan , who was crowned Ironman World Champion in Hawaii the following year . The swimming distance was completed in Lake Constance. The bike stage led from Bregenz in the direction of the Bregenzerwald and back to Bregenz, where we finally ran along the shores of Lake Constance.
Due to the stagnating number of participants, the competition was no longer held after 2006.
Successor events since 2017 have been the Bregenz Olympic distance triathlon and the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon , which was resumed in 2012 , a medium-distance triathlon (3 km swimming, 120 km cycling and 15 km running) starting in Bregenz.
