Franz Anton Sebastini
Franz Anton Sebastini (also Franz Anton Sebastian ; Franz Anton Schebesta ; Czech František Antonín Šebesta , also František Antonín Šebesta-Sebastini ; * around 1724 in Kojetein ; † 1789 in Proßnitz ) was a Baroque painter and fresco artist from Moravia who mainly worked in Upper Silesia was.
Life
Franz Anton Sebastini, whose year of birth is assumed to be 1724/25, is recorded in Kojetein for the years 1749 to 1753, from 1761 to 1783 he worked mainly in Upper Silesia and then probably in Proßnitz. He mainly worked for church clients and created numerous frescoes and oil paintings. In Upper Silesia he often worked with the sculptor and plasterer Johann Schubert (* 1741 in Leipnik ) , who was also from Moravia . The landlord, Reichsgraf Oppersdorf , gave him the numerous commissions in Oberglogau and the surrounding area . Since Sebastini rarely signed his works, the attribution is not always certain. Some of the attributions have recently been rejected and attributed to the Jesuit Ignaz Raab , who is also active in Upper Silesia .
