history
The first written mention of the villages of Stary Chwalnow and Nowy Chwalnow took place in 1382, when they were entered in the land register as owned by Hartleb von Kunkovice from the Vladiken family of Zástřizl since 1371 . From 1386 there is only talk of a village Chwalnow . It is not known whether either of the two original villages became extinct or both were merged into one village. The discovery of bone graves and a denarius from the time of Prince Ulrich von Brünn at the Prusinovka quarry in 1933 confirmed old traditions, according to which old Chwalnov, east of today's village, stood on the edge of the forests of the Mars Mountains. The parish Chwalnow has been occupied since 1389. In 1397 the place was called Chwalenow . The Kunkovický von Zástřizl held Chvalnov until 1490, after which the estate was attached to the Litenčice dominion . From 1568 the rule belonged to the Hungarian Catholic Gabriel Meylath von Fagarosch. After that, the owners changed many times. At the beginning of the 17th century Chvalnov consisted of 31 subservient properties as well as a manor house, a manorial tavern, a farm, a sheep farm and three mills. During the Thirty Years War the place became deserted. The first written mention of the Chvalnov Fortress took place in 1627. In 1667, Melichar Ledenický von Ledenice bought Chvalnov, and in the same year he sold the property to Peter Ignaz von Stomm. The oldest local seal of Chwalnow dates from 1668, it shows an upright lion holding a lily. In 1670, 21 of the 31 farms were still desolate. In 1671 a manorial brewery and distillery was mentioned in Chvalnov. After Peter Ignaz's eldest son Johann Franz Hannibal Freiherr von Stomm bought the Litenčice manor in 1697, he struck the Chvalnov estate again. In 1709 the Chvalnov fortress burned down, it was not rebuilt. Three years later Johann Franz Hannibal von Stomm sold Litenčice with all accessories to Franz Wilhelm Freiherrn von Thonsern. He was followed by his son Franz Josef Philipp Anton Felix. After the von Thonsern family died out, Franz Anton Podstatzky von Prusinowitz inherited the property in 1778 on condition that he took over the name Thonsern. This gave rise to the Podstatzky von Prusinowitz-Thonsern family branch. Chvalnov remained connected to the Litenčice manor until 1827, after which the village was attached to the Cetechovice manor . Until the middle of the 19th century Chvalnov remained submissive to Cetechovice.
After the abolition of patrimonial Chwalnow formed from 1850 a community in the Kremsier district administration . The current place name Chvalnov has been used since 1872. In 1881 a big fire destroyed half the village. The following year several houses burned down again. As a result of the fires, a volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1898 . At the beginning of 1961 the merger with Lísky took place to form the Chvalnov-Lísky municipality. In 1991 Chvalnov had 196 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, 213 people lived in the village's 96 houses.
