description

The mountain is the highest part of the Středomoravské Karpaty (Central Moravian Carpathians) and extends from the Zlínský kraj to the Jihomoravský kraj . The highest point is the Brdo . Other important geographical points are Bunč and Komínky. Historical monuments can be viewed in three districts in which the nature park is located. Together with the neighboring Ždánický les, the mountains form a natural border between two regions. Slovácko spreads to the south and east , the Hanna begins in the north .

The mountains themselves consist of clay and sandstone cliffs, covered by thick deciduous forests and crossed by the March river . The pleasant and warm climate has long attracted animals of all kinds that have found their home here. The flora is typical of the Central European Carpathians. In addition to species of lily, there are other rare plants here.

history

The area was also settled early by humans. During excavations in Bělov , Žlutava , Nová Dědina , objects of the first hunters from the Paleolithic era and tools of the farmers who settled later were found. At that time, this area was one of the densely populated areas. The remains of mammoths and woolly rhinos also date from this early period .

The area was on the trade route from the Adriatic to the Baltic States . The first fortification was built on the Holý Kopec around 1200 to 800 BC. At the same time, the castle at Roštín guarded the path that started from the Salzkammergut. The Amber Road and the Salt Road met at Kroměříž and Chřiby and thus formed an important part of these trade routes. At the confluence of the Morava and Olšava rivers , a Roman fortress was later built . After the settlement by Slavs , the area became a commercial and administrative center with important sites for the army and the church. It is believed that the area is the origin of the Great Moravian Empire .

Since the Middle Ages, probably as early as the Great Moravian period, the oak and beech forests formed a sovereign wilderness forest . To protect it, the Přemyslids had two hunting courts set up in Stříbrnice and Lubná . The Lowczowe prawo of Stříbrnice later the received blood jurisdiction of Buchlov transferred and held this out to the 1748th
