Central Moravian Carpathians

The Central Moravian Carpathians ( Středomoravské Karpaty ) belong to the western foothills of the Outer Western Carpathians . Contrary to what the name suggests, they are located in southern Moravia , east of Brno . In the north and west the mountain range borders on the Western Outer Carpathian Depression , in the east on the Slovak-Moravian Carpathians and in the south on the Vienna Basin . The highest point is the Brdo at 587 meters.

The Central Moravian Carpathians are geomorphologically divided into four units:

The mountains are mostly a mixed forest area, overgrown with beech and spruce. It is one of the most important agricultural areas for grapevines, apricots and peaches, as well as vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.
