Salaš (German Sallasch ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 15 kilometers northwest of Uherské Hradiště and belongs to the Okres Uherské Hradiště .

geography

Salaš is located in the forests of the Mars Mountains by the Salaška brook. To the east rises the hill Hrušová (389 m) in the northwest lies the Brdo (589 m).

Neighboring towns are Bunč in the north, Jankovice in the northeast, Kopaniny in the east, Jalubí in the southeast, Velehrad and Chabaně in the south, Buchlov in the southwest, Zikmundov and Staré Hutě in the west and Roštín in the northwest.

history

The pastures on the Salaška were used by the Buchlov manor from the 17th century . In 1692, Velehrad Monastery recorded income from cattle farming for the first time from the salaše ( dairy ). In 1713 the area was divided into a monastic part ( Salaš monasterii ), the other part remained with the Buchlovice rule . It is not known whether Salaš was already settled at that time. It is believed that the settlement took place around 1750. House numbers have been handed down from Buchlovský Salaš and Velehradský Salaš since 1771 . Buchlovský Salaš was separated from the Buchlov parish in 1779 and assigned to the spiritual administration of the monastery.

After the dissolution of the monastery, the division of the place was lifted. In 1814 Salaš and the Modrá colony became a Dominikal parish of the Buchlov rule and remained parish to Velehrad. After the abolition of patrimonial rule , the political municipality of Salaš was established in the Hungarian Hradisch district in 1848 .

During the Second World War, the forests of the Mars Mountains were the refuge of the partisan detachment "Olga", which belongs to the 1st Czechoslovak Brigade "Jan Žižka". After the handover of the captured commander of the 16th Panzer Division, Major General Dietrich von Müller , failed on April 29, 1945 in Bunč and ended in a shootout, further German troops advanced into the mountains. The Bunč mountain hut was burned down on the same day. On the same day, a 40-man group from the Litenčice Penal Command made up of members of the Vlasov Army, Polish Germans and the Gestapo occupied the place. They posed as Russian partisans and pretended to want to join the Olga detachment. Together with 20 "volunteers" gathered together from the village, they moved to Vápenice, where they shouted "Secret State Police!" 19 of their hostages shot dead.

Today Salaš is primarily a resort.
