Březová (German Bresowa , 1939-1945 Birkicht ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 13 kilometers southeast of Uherský Brod and belongs to the Okres Uherské Hradiště .
geography
Březová is located at the northwestern foot of the Velký Lopeník on the ridge of the White Carpathians in the protected landscape area CHKO Bílé Karpaty. The village lies at the confluence of the Hrubár brook in the Březová valley. To the north rise the Studenný vrch (646 m), Holý vrch (592 m) and Obecní háj (536 m), to the east the Grúň, Kobylec (844 m) and Malý Lopeník (881 m), southeast of the Velký Lopeník (911 m) ), in the south the Nová hora (551 m) and Nová hora (629 m) and to the southwest the Doubrava (550 m). The border with Slovakia runs three kilometers to the east .
Neighboring towns are Suchá Loz , Podhorský Mlýn and Bystřice pod Lopeníkem in the north, Olšovec, Od Březovska and Lopeník in the northeast, Škrátova, Výškovecké Bošáčky, Vyškovec , Lopenické, Bošáčky and Predpoloma, Grášáčová, and Pančovan in the east, Valová, Mravecndov , Bazalákovci, Šance, Květná and Mlýnky in the south, Strání and Drahy in the south-west and Korytná , Nivnice , Čupák and Volenov in the north-west.
history
The village was probably founded in the 14th century by the Cistercian monastery Smilheim during the colonization of the area between the Studenný vrch and the border with Hungary as a logging settlement. The oldest news about the existence of the village comes from the year 1325. Březová has been documented since 1351. In 1492 a trade route from Moravia to Hungary via Brzezowa was mentioned for the first time. Later the village was called Bržezová . After Březová was destroyed in 1606 by the Transylvanian rebels under Stephan Bocskai , the Uherský Brod council had the village of Nová Březová create in the valley of the Březová brook in 1615 . The settlers came from Uherský Brod and Korytná . The cadastre of the new village was beraint on October 8, 1616. This resulted in violent border disputes with the owners of the surrounding villages Strání , Suchá Loz and Horní Němčí , from which corridors at Březová had been slammed. The bailiff of Březová, Vavřinec Vrabec, therefore recommended in 1617 an adjustment of the rule boundaries. In 1621, when Gábor Bethlen's troops invaded the village, it was reduced to rubble. Nová Březová was rebuilt between 1627 and 1641. The village was later popularly referred to as Březová, and this name eventually became the official place name.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Březová / Bresowa and Olšovec / Olschowetz 1850 independent municipalities in the district administration Uherský Brod . At the end of the Second World War, both villages were taken on April 26, 1945 after heavy fighting by the Red Army and Romanian troops. 17 Russians and 42 Romanians died and were buried in the local cemetery. The building damage was estimated at 15,000,000 crowns and the forest damage at 1,500,000 crowns, plus damage of five million crowns to dead inventory. This made Březová one of the most damaged communities in Okres Uherský Brod.
On May 1, 1955, Olšovec and Březová were merged to form a village Březová. After the dissolution of the Okres Uherský Brod, Březová came to the Okres Uherské Hradiště in late 1960 .

- Velký Lopeník with a lookout tower
- Mineral springs, originally six sulfur-containing springs, were previously bottled as Blumenbacher Sauerbrunnen . In 1576, the Brno doctor Thomas Jordan von Klausenburg described one of the springs as medicinal. Today there are two springs that have a lot of iron. One of them is the Březovská kyselka, which Leoš Janáček visited several times until 1919 . The other gushes from a travertine stick south of the village in the Dolní lázy corridor.
