Boršice , 1961–1996: Boršice u Buchlovic (German Borschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers west of Uherské Hradiště and belongs to the Okres Uherské Hradiště .

geography

Boršice is located at the southern foot of the Mars Mountains in Moravian Slovakia . The village is surrounded by vineyards in the Dlouhá řeka valley at the confluence of the Medlovický potok. To the north is the Nad Sovínem reservoir .

Neighboring towns are Buchlovice in the north, Tupesy and Zlechov in the northeast, Kostelany nad Moravou in the southeast, Nedakonice and Polešovice in the south, Tučapy in the southwest, Stříbrnice in the west and Smraďavka and Lázně Leopoldov in the northwest.

history

The village was probably laid out at the end of the 12th century as part of the colonization of the area. Borsiz was first mentioned in a document in August 1220, when Bishop Robert of England assigned the place to the Velehrad monastery . A document dated to 1202, according to which Margrave Vladislav Heinrich Borsiz bought 50 pounds of silver from a knight Přibyslav in 1202 and then donated it to the monastery he founded, has proven to be a forgery from the middle of the 13th century.

On January 14th 1421 the place was devastated by the Hussites on their retreat from Uherský Ostroh . The church and the rectory were ruined and the pastor, who had hidden in the vineyards, was taken along. The church was not rebuilt until 1453. The parish were Tučapy and Zlechov and Tupesy . The latter place was changed to Velehrad in 1911 . In the 17th century the village was badly affected by the Turkish invasions and burned down several times. The reconstruction of the place took place in large part by recruiting new settlers. As a result, the population grew again to 907 within a century. Boršice was one of the monastery's vineyards. In 1820 the village consisted of 237 houses. After the abolition of patrimonial rule, the political municipality Boršice / Borschitz was established in 1848 and belonged to the Hungarian Hradisch district since 1850 . The church in Boršice has belonged to the Bzenec deanery since 1953 . Boršice is one of the Moravian wine-growing places . Between 1961 and 1996 the municipality was named Boršice u Buchlovic .

In Boršice there is the folklore ensemble Pentla and the brass band Boršičanka
