Hradčovice (German Radschowitz , formerly Hradschowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers northwest of Uherský Brod and belongs to the Okres Uherské Hradiště .

geography

Hradčovice extends to the right of the Olšava in the valley of the tributary Hradčovický potok. The village is located in the Prakšická pahorkatina hills belonging to the Vizovická vrchovina on the edge of the nature park of the same name. To the north rises the Rovná hora (350 m), in the northeast the Kamenná (303 m), east the Skákavka (326 m), in the south the Myšince (352 m), southwest the Kamenný (348 m), in the west the Milonín ( 323 m) and northwest of the Lovisko (349 m). The Brno – Vlárský průsmyk railway runs on the southern edge of the village in the Olšava valley . The European route 50 / state road I / 50 from Brno to Trenčín passes on the opposite bank .

Neighboring towns are Bílovice and Nedachlebice in the north, Lhotka in the north-east, Drslavice in the east, Obora, Havřice and Uherský Brod in the south-east, Vlčnov in the south, Veletiny and Podolí in the south-west, Popovice in the west and Javorovec and Mistřice in the north-west.

history

Archaeological finds in the area of ​​the municipality go back to the Neolithic Age . During the Great Moravian Empire , the fortified settlement of Bolegradica was located here. The first written mention of the place took place in 1247, when the owner of the Břeclav estate , Ulrich III. von Spanheim , gave the church two hubs of land and ponds in Radichowitz as reparation for the damage inflicted on the Velehrad monastery for the salvation of his and his descendants . The location on an important trade route to Hungary repeatedly led to the invasion of enemy armies. At the beginning of the 14th century the village was devastated by the troops of Matthew Csák . The church was first mentioned in 1406 during the time of the landlord Oneš von Šarov.

The numerous owners included u. a. the families von Šarov, von Šumvald and von Morkovice; the latter sold Hradčovice together with Vlčnov , Kvačice, Chylice and Veletiny at the end of the 15th century to Přibík von Zahrádka. The following owners were from 1499 Vilém Hřivin from Újezd ​​and from 1504 Burian from Vlčnov. In 1509 Jan von Kunovice acquired the village and added it to his Brod rule . In 1561 Hradčovice was burned down. In 1605, Stephan Bocskai's troops invaded the area and brought the Black Death with them. In 1611, Jetřich von Kunovice sold Uherský Brod with all accessories to Ulrich von Kaunitz . The other owners included Dominik Andreas I von Kaunitz from 1676 to 1705 , Count Wenzel Anton Kaunitz from 1746 to 1794 and Alois Wenzel von Kaunitz from 1812 to 1848. Until the middle of the 19th century, Hradčovice was always subject to Uherský Brod.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Hradšovice / Radschowitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . The Wlarabahn was built between 1883 and 1887 ; In 1888 she started traffic. At the end of the 19th century the place was called Hračovice . The current name has been in use since the beginning of the 20th century. At that time there were several mills, a sugar factory, a smithy, a brickworks and a sawmill in Hradčovice. Between 1903 and 1905 , Wenzel Robert von Kaunitz had the Pepčín hunting lodge built in the zoo on the Myšince . In 1910 Hradčovice had 332 inhabitants. On April 12, 1960, Lhotka was incorporated. After the dissolution of the Okres Uherský Brod, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Uherské Hradiště in late 1960 . Since 2000, Hradčovice has had a coat of arms and a banner.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of All Saints, it was probably built in the 13th century and was rebuilt between 1320 and 1330, the building material used is the same as that of Cimburk Castle . The church has been documented in writing since 1406. At the beginning of the 16th century the nave was increased.

  • former castle Pepčín, south of the village on the Myšince. The building with a high five-storey round tower, built for Wenzel Robert von Kaunitz in the Tudor style between 1903 and 1905 , was looted and devastated in 1945. After nationalization, it completely degenerated. It was canceled on February 2, 1981. The place where the castle stood is now a popular venue for the surrounding communities.
  • Rovná hora nature reserve, meadows and pastures on the southern slope of the hill of the same name, the 12.2667 hectare area has been protected since 1998
