history

Archaeological finds show that the valley has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age . Since the 11th century, the important Hungarian path led over the Strasy Pass. It ran from Nitra via Uherský Brod and Měnín or Brno to Olomouc to the Amber Road . Around 1200, the district between Trnava and the Moravian lowlands belonged to Constance of Hungary . From her husband Ottokar I. Přemysl , Konstanze received the subsequent Moravian plain between Břeclav and Uherské Hradiště as a morning gift . Your father Béla III. She also left the Gau from Tyrnau to the Waag . The Hungarian Steig became the most important trade link between Moravia and Hungary in the second half of the 13th century. At that time Strání did not exist and even when the Smilheim Monastery was founded in 1261 there was no mention of the place.

Strání was first mentioned in a document in 1318, when John of Luxembourg pledged the Stenici fortress after the Cumans under Matouš Čák Trenčanský to secure a debt to Chotěbor von Strání. In 1353 Strání was entered in the Olomouc land table as the property of the brothers Pavel and Ctibor von Strání. The seat of the Vladiken von Strání was the local fortress, their possessions also included a third of Horní Němčí , Korytná and a portion of Volenov. In 1359 Pavel and Ctibor von Strání sold their entire estate, including the festivals, the court, the parish and the town of Strání to Frank von Kunowitz. There has been evidence of a toll in Strání since 1483. In 1492 Strání consisted of 44 properties and two mills with board saws. The latter were located below the town on today's corridors of Květná. In 1502 Strání fell together with Lhota, Louka , Boršice, Slavkov , Suchá Loz and a share from Horní Němčí to Jan Bernard von Kunovice, who struck the goods of his rule Ostroh . The village was sacked in 1605 when the Transylvanian rebels under Stephan Bocskai invaded . Jan Bernard the Elder J. von Kunovice lost his property after the battle of White Mountain . In 1625 Gundaker von Liechtenstein received the rule for 600,000 guilders against a debt claim. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subordinate to Ostroh and the Liechtensteiners .

After the replacement of the patrimonial formed stráni / Strany 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . In 1885 Strání was raised again to the market town. After the dissolution of the Okres Uherský Brod, Strání came to the Okres Uherské Hradiště in late 1960 .
