history

The oldest mention of the village Slavkov belonging to the Provincia Lucensis was made by the chronicler Cosmas of Prague in the Chronica Boemorum as the place of two meetings between the Bohemian and Hungarian rulers to settle border disputes in the years 1099 and 1116. The latter meeting was preceded by acts of war. The most important trade connection between the two kingdoms led through the town with the Hungarian Steig over the Stranypass.

Slevkov was first mentioned in a document in 1261 in the border document on the goods of the Cistercian monastery Smilheim as the property of Boresch II von Riesenburg . However, this document turned out to be a later falsification of the monastery. After Boresch fell out of favor and was executed in 1277, his South Moravian possessions fell back to the sovereign. In 1298 a Oneš from Slavkov can be traced as the owner of the goods. In 1361 Mikšík von Slavkov left two and a half hubs from Slavkov to Frank von Kunowitz and his brother Wenceslaus, the provost of the Rosa Coeli monastery . Later Slavkov was attached to the Strání manor . The other owners included u. a. Heinrich Pflugk von Rabenstein. In 1417 the Slavkov and Suchá Loz estates belonged to Ulrich Stosch von Branitz. In the middle of the 15th century Slavkov was attached to the Veselí rule by the von Sternbergs . Zdenko von Sternberg auf Konopischt sold these to Mikuláš from Vojslavice in 1447. After the Vojslavice dynasty died out in the male line at the end of the 15th century, the rule fell to the Lords of Kunowitz, who joined Slavkov in 1498 to the Ostroh rule . Owners were u. a. Jan von Kunovice, from 1572 Jetřich von Kunovic, then the city of Uherský Brod and the Bohemian Chamber . In 1592 Slavkov consisted of 52 properties and two mills. The place was the seat of a bailiff who owned an estate. In 1605 Slavkov was devastated by the troops of the rebellious Transylvanian prince Stephan Bocskai . The following year pestilence broke out. In 1625 the Liechtensteiners also acquired Slavkov with the Ostroh dominion . In 1663 Slavkov was sacked and burned down by troops of the Grand Vizier Ahmed Kiupril under the leadership of the Duke of Saarus (Solnohrad), Michael Apaffy . Until 1751 the village was parish to Nivnice , then to Horní Němčí , where teaching was also carried out. In 1765 the village consisted of 64 properties. Slavkov had 546 inhabitants in 1843. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Ostroh.

After the replacement of patrimonial Slavkov / Slawkow formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Hradisch . During the German War in July 1866, parts of the Austrian army were encamped near Slavkov. They brought in cholera , from which 46 residents subsequently died. In 1908 the volunteer fire brigade was formed, which purchased its first fire engine the following year. In the 1921 census, 848 people lived in the village's 166 houses. In 1942 an economics school was established in Slavkov. In 1949 the community was assigned to the new Okres Uherský Brod. After the cancellation of the Okres Uherský Brod, Slavkov came back to the Okres Uherské Hradiště in late 1960 . The kindergarten opened in 1961.
