history

An archaeological find in the Kocovy corridor shows that the municipality was settled during the Middle Paleolithic around 80,000 BC. Chr.

Sušice was probably founded together with Kudlovice between 1252 and 1321 . Suzichcz was first mentioned in a document in 1344, when Robert von Sušice's widow Jitka, together with her sons Dluhomil and Jaroslav, gave the Velehrad monastery a piece of land in Suzichcz . Jitka died in the same year and was buried in the monastery. The Sušice Fortress, which stood on the Hradiště square , was the seat of the Sušice lords . A manor and part of the village of Kudlovice belonged to the property. In 1375 Dětřich von Sušice was named as the owner. In 1464 the farm and the toll in Sussicz were listed as accessories to the Buchlov estate . Two years later, Sussicz passed to Jan Mléčko von Zástřizl as a pledge . The stately mill in Sussicz was first mentioned in 1603 and was shut down in 1848. In 1613 the Styrian nobleman Johann Jacob von Rottal bought Sussicz . The following year he left the farm to Jiří Kužel from Žeravice. In 1671 the place was called Sussicze . Until the middle of the 19th century, Sušice remained an independent estate. After the abolition of patrimonial Sušice / Suschitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Hradisch .

Sušice has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2005.
