Neighboring towns are Nivnice , Cupák and Volenov in the north, Sucha Loz and Bystřice pod Lopeníkem in the Northeast, Lopeník in the east, Březová and Strání in the southeast, Kamenná Bouda and Uherskohradišťské Vápenky in the south, Horni Němčí the west and Slavkov and Dolni Němčí in the northwest.

history

It is believed that Korytná was founded around 1270 after Smil von Zbraslav and Střílky donated the Nivnice estate to the Smilheim Monastery in 1261 . The first secure mention of the village took place in 1325, when King Johann Korytná and the Volenov court left the citizens of the royal town of Brod usufruct. Later the owners changed many times. In 1358 Korytná belonged together with Horní Němčí , Strání and Lipov to the common property of the brothers Pavel from Strání and Ctibor from Lipov. In the following year they, also acting on behalf of the minors Benesch and Milota Gans von Gansberg, sold the Gansberg Castle , the town of Strání, Korytná and a third of Horní Němčí and rights in Volenov to the brothers Franěk, Petr and Václav from Kunovice. Korytná was an important trade connection with the Hungarian Steig over the Stranypass from Moravia to Hungary, but the village was also often ravaged by war people. The inhabitants of the village had been obliged to serve in the military in the fight against invaders from Hungary since the 16th century. In 1605 the Transylvanian rebels under Stephan Bocskai plundered Korytná. Since the first half of the 17th century, teaching was carried out in the rectory. The oldest local seal dates from 1687; it shows a ploughshare and a six and bears the inscription PECZET OBECNI DIEDINI KORITNEI . In 1704 and 1705 Franz II Rákóczi's troops invaded . There is evidence of a school building in Korytná since 1768. In 1805 Napoleonic troops looted the place. Due to the increase in the population, a new, larger school building had to be built in 1833. In 1836 cholera broke out in Korytná .

After the replacement of patrimonial Korytna / Koritna formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Uherský Brod . In 1866 the Prussians occupied the village and brought cholera in. The place's seal, introduced in 1878, shows St. Wenceslaus. In a large fire in 1895, 21 farmsteads were destroyed. In 1896 the school was increased by two floors. At the beginning of the 20th century, the village consisted mostly of farmers and shepherds. Since the middle of the 19th century, some of the residents lived from peddling with seeds and medicinal herbs, others went to Austria during the summer as harvest workers. Most of the winter worked in the manorial forests around Korytná. Later, parts of the population earned their living in the Uherský Brod factories and the Květná glassworks . A limestone quarry was operated in Korytná until 1930. Between April 17 and 26, 1945 fierce tank battles took place around Horní Němčí and Korytná between the Wehrmacht and the Red Army and the Romanian Army, which took the village on April 26. Korytná was one of the most severely war-damaged places in the Uherský Brod region. After the end of the war, it was rebuilt. In the period that followed, the living conditions and the village infrastructure were improved in-house. For this, Korytná was awarded the title “ Model Village of Jihomoravský kraj” and on September 3, 1970 Ludvík Svoboda with the “Medal for Merit in Building” (Vyznamesání za zásluhy o výstavbu) . After the dissolution of the Okres Uherský Brod, Korytná came to the Okres Uherské Hradiště in late 1960 . Korytná has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2000.
