Buchlovice (German Buchlowitz , older also Buchlawitz (1324), Puchlawitz (1371)) is a place at the foot of the Mars Mountains in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers northwest of the district town of Uherské Hradiště and belongs to the Okres Uherské Hradiště .
history
Buchlovice was first mentioned at the end of the 13th century. At that time it was owned by the lower nobility. In the 15th century the lords of Kravarn and Domamyslice were able to acquire and unite a large part of the territorially dispersed property. They were followed after 1540 by the lords of Žerotín , who added the Buchlov lordship to the village of Buchlovice . In 1644 the gentlemen Peterswald von Peterswald acquired the unified lordship of Buchlov and Buchlovice. Johann Dietrich Peterswald von Peterswald built Buchlovice Castle with a magnificent park at the beginning of the 18th century and made Buchlovice the center of the rulership. The building activities and the settlement of government offices resulted in an economic upswing.
In 1805 Buchlovice received the rank of town, in which four annual fairs were allowed to be held. For 1838 there are 311 houses in Buchlovice.
The Counts of Berchtold, to whom Buchlovice belonged since 1763, also earned services to the economic and cultural development and to the common good of the town, which remained in their possession until 1945. Among them were the enlightened Leopold (1759–1809), the natural scientist Friedrich (1780–1876) and the Austrian Foreign Minister Leopold Berchtold .
In 2006 Buchlovice received the status of Městys . Today the town is important as an industrial location for the surrounding area.
