history

The first written mention of the village belonging to the Velehrad Monastery was in 1228 as Dolní Popovice . Together with Horní Popovice it was donated to the Cistercians in 1220 by Ottokar I Přemysl . In 1401 the village was first referred to as Podolí . At that time Prokop von Podolí had his seat here until 1416. After the destruction of the monastery by the Hussites , Burian von Vlčnov took possession of the property, so that the Velehrad Abbot Stephan sued the regional court for restitution. A mill and a farm with a vineyard were also mentioned in 1428. In 1467 the monastery pledged the villages of Podolí and Popovice to the town of Hradiště for 200 silver pounds . After the monastery never released the pledge, Podolí peculiarly passed to the town in 1528. The vineyard went out in the 17th century. In 1663 the whole village was burned down when the Hungarians invaded. During further incursions by enemy troops, Podolí was partly set on fire again in 1683 and 1709. The oldest place seal dates from 1698; it shows an eight-spoke wagon wheel, as used in the coat of arms of the Lords of Veletiny. The parish was originally Derfle, in the 18th century Podolí was re-parish to Kunovice and in 1784 came back to the Derfle parish. In the second half of the 18th century the village had just under 370 inhabitants. In 1843 there were 410 people in Podolí's 73 houses. Until the middle of the 19th century Podolí always remained subordinate to the Uherské Hradiště estate.

After the abolition of patrimonial Podolí / Podoly formed a municipality in the Hungarian Hradisch district from 1850 . In 1869 there were 472 people in Podolí. The Wlarabahn was built in 1888 . Since 1913 Podolí has been parish to Popovice. In 1930 the village had 704 inhabitants and in 1964 the place reached its highest population with 918 people.
