history

The first written mention of Zdounky comes from 1298 with the name de Noneken and since 1358 the place has been called a market. Stefan von Holstein and Wartnau , who had owned the Zdounek fortress since 1406, was a supporter of King Sigismund and an opponent of the Hussites . On their way to Kroměříž in 1423 the Hussites destroyed the market town including the fortress. Until 1480 Zdounek belonged to the Holsteiners, then several changes of ownership took place until 1523 Wenceslas from Žerotín to Buchlov acquired the property. In 1564 the Zoubek of Zdětín became the new masters of Zdounky. Kateřina Eliška Zoubková bequeathed her property to the Jesuit order in 1635 . After the secularization Zdounek 1785 fell by the religious fund from which it 1806, the Count Lamberg acquired.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zdounek obtained its independence in 1850 and became the seat of a judicial district in the political district of Kremsier . The castle passed to Maria Josepha von Lamberg and her husband Friedrich Arthur von Thurn und Taxis in 1889 . The next owner was their daughter Marie, married Countess Strachwitz, and remained in the family's possession until Hugo Friedrich von Strachwitz was expropriated in 1948.

After the Second World War, the place lost its market status and has been a village ever since.
