history

The first written mention of the episcopal fief Curovitz took place in 1276 as the seat of the Zaschit de Curovitz ( Zášit z Kurovic ). A little later the festival became the hereditary Vladikensitz . In 1320 the place was called Chorobitz . In 1339 Vladike Beneš Hus sold the Curowicz estate , which also included the village of Třebětice , to Bishop Jan Volek . Before 1385 Ješek von Sternberg on Lukov conquered the festivals belonging to Jaroslav, Burgrave on Sternberg because of an allegedly unpaid debt. Bishop Nikolaus von Riesenburg enfeoffed Ješek in 1390 with Curowicz and half of Holešov . During the Hussite Wars between 1423 and 1424, the rebels destroyed the festivals belonging to the Sternbergers fighting on the side of the emperor. It was rebuilt before 1447 and was called the castle at that time. In the second half of the 15th century, the fortress was damaged again during the Bohemian-Hungarian War. After Bishop Stanislaus Thurzo handed the Curowicz fief to the brothers Vilém, Kuneš and Jan von Vrchlabí in 1482 , they had the fortress expanded from 1499 to a mighty late Gothic building with three wings and surrounded by bulwarks and ramparts. The representative residence under Oldřich von Vrchlabí was completed. The Kurovský of Vrchlabí held Kurowicze until 1565, then Bishop Wilhelm Prusinovský of Víckov enfeoffed Joachim Zoubek of Zdětín with the estate. Under Joachim Zoubek and his son Jan Bohuslav, the fortress was rebuilt and expanded again. In 1603 Alexander Jobst Haugwitz von Biskupitz acquired the estate with the fortress and the two villages Kurovice and Třebětice for 15,000 guilders. At the beginning of the Thirty Years War, the fortress was taken twice by insurgent Wallachians. Wenzel Eusebius von Lobkowicz , who had acquired Kurovice after the Battle of White Mountain , had the fortress increased and the free-standing tower removed around 1630. In 1651 Johann von Rottal bought the estate and gave it to his lordship of Holešov. A brewery was part of the festival in the 17th century. After the von Rottal family died out, the inheritance fell to Franz Anton von Rottal's son-in-law Franz Maximilian Nádasdy in 1762 , who sold the rule to Count Erdődy . Before 1840 a wall quarry for the extraction of clayey lime was recorded on the Křemenná. Until the middle of the 19th century, the place was always subject to Holešov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kurovice / Kurowitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the district authority Holešov. In 1858 the Erdődy counts sold their goods in Holešov with all their accessories to the von Würben counts . In 1960 the community was assigned to the Okres Kroměříž . After the quarrying of limestone, which was processed into cement in neighboring Tlumačov under the brand name Kurovina , was significantly reduced on the Křemenná in 1997 , it was later completely stopped . In April 1999 the Kroměříž District Administration declared the break a natural monument. The village has a coat of arms and a banner showing the Zástřizl lily and the iron hand of the Zoubek of Zdětín.
