history

Archaeological finds prove an early settlement of the community area. This includes a small dagger from the time of the Middle Danube digging culture, several graves from the Hallstatt period and a Slavic settlement.

The first written mention of the village Sulisovitz took place in 1349 as the property of Vladiken Alschik de Sulisovitz from the dynasty of the Kužel von Žeravice. Alschik and his brother Šach von Kuželov sold 50 Scherf from the income from Sulischowitz as a dowry to Mrakeš von Soběbřuchy in 1368. The seat of the Lords of Sulischowitz was the fortress in the middle of the village. Over time, the property became more and more fragmented. Bušek von Doloplazy became the owner of the Sulischowitz farm . In 1460 Jan von Zástřizl and Nemotice sold the farm to Jan von Věžky, who in the same year used the Sulisovitz title . After the death of Jiřík von Rataje in 1466 the farm passed to the brothers Jan and Hynek von Ludanice and Jan Bořita von Bystřice as trustees, who pledged Sulisovitz to the diocese of Olomouc . Later, Bishop Stanislaus Thurzo released the pledge and joined Sulisovitz to the Kroměříž rule. In 1585 the village burned down and in 1665 another great fire caused considerable damage. In 1651 the place was called Sselessowicz . The oldest local seal dates from the 18th century and bears the inscription PECZET.DIEDINY.CZELECZOWICZ . In 1747, Cardinal Ferdinand Julius von Troyer had an inheritance court created in Šelešovice, which was exempted from the labor and was granted the right to be licensed. In 1819, the bar was separated from the court of inheritance and transferred to house number 8. Since 1817 the assistant teacher from Rataje gave lessons in a chalet in the village of Zabrání. In 1831 a cholera epidemic broke out and a cholera cemetery was established in the Ostuda corridor . On June 19, 1837, eight houses burned down after a lightning strike. In the following year, an annual procession to Nětčice was started to commemorate the fire and a portrait of Mary was set up at homestead No. 12. At that time, the village began collecting funds to build a church. Since these were not sufficient for this, the income was used to build the chapel in Nětčice and the image of the Virgin was placed in the chapel. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Kroměříž bishopric.

After the abolition of patrimonial Šelešovice / Schelleschowitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Kroměříž. In 1857 a school house was built in Šelešovice, and the building material was bought by the municipality in Kroměříž for 200 guilders from the demolition of the forge gate. In November 1868 a fire razed 22 houses to rubble. In 1869, 350 people lived in the 64 houses in the village. From 1881 the municipality used the name Sulešovice / Sulschwitz . In 1907, two-class lessons were started, with one class being taught in the tavern until the construction of a new school building in 1909. In 1921 the community had 473 inhabitants and consisted of 92 houses. The village has been called Šelešovice since 1924 . The road to Rataje was built between 1926 and 1928. At the end of the Second World War, the village was captured by the Romanian army on May 3, 1945 after a three-day battle with the Wehrmacht. In 1961 Šelešovice was incorporated into Jarohněvice and together with this in 1986 to Kroměříž. Since January 1st 2001 Šelešovice has again formed its own municipality.
