history
Archaeological finds, including a bone grave from the La Tène period as well as everyday objects from the time of the corded ceramics and the Lusatian culture , prove an early settlement of the municipality. Later the Celts built mighty fortifications with ramparts on the Hostýn; the location of the Slawkower gate is still recognizable. According to legend, during the invasion of the Golden Horde , the inhabitants of the area fled to the Hostýn in 1241. Then the Tatars are said to have tried to take the mountain over the Stráň .
Was first documented Slawkow 1349, as Ones Trdlo and its Beta had its seat at the festivals Slawkow. In 1365 Boček I of Podebrady acquired the estate and added it to his rule of Bystřice pod Hostýnem . Subsequent owners were from 1418 the lords of Tworkau , from 1447 the lords of Sovinec and then the lords of Sternberg and von Landstein . Mining for silver, gold, iron and lime has been practiced near Slavkov since the Middle Ages, field names such as Šachtě and Vápenka are still reminiscent of this . In the 1470s, Ctibor II. Tovačovský of Cimburg acquired the rule, he sold it to Mikuláš of Hustopeče around 1480. He was followed by his son-in-law Burian Žabka von Limberg, who sold the property to Přemek Prusinovský von Víckov in 1555. About Bohunka von Víckov the rule came in 1613 to her husband Václav Bítovský von Bítov. He fled Moravia after the battle of the White Mountain and was sentenced in 1622 to lose his neck, honor and property in absentia. The new owner of the manor was Zdeněk Vojtěch von Lobkowicz , whose son sold it to Johann Anton von Rottal in 1650 . During the Thirty Years War the area was first devastated by the Swedes; after their departure there was an uprising against re-Catholicization in neighboring Wallachia . As a result, the whole area began to decline. In 1650 the Catholics formed the minority with 14% of the population; Johann Anton von Rottal pushed through the recatholicization of the village with a hard hand. In 1671 the dean's office Holešov complained that Slavkov, which had once been one of the best villages, was partly desolate and completely shabby. Three years later, four of the village's 26 properties were still in ruins. In 1683 the troops of the Polish King John III moved. Sobieski on the way to the liberation of Vienna from the Turkish siege through the town. Slavkov was parish in Bílavsko, but the residents often attended church services on Svatý Hostýn or went to church in Bystřice in the summer months . In 1789, after the Counts of Rottal died out , the property passed to their son-in-law, Count della Rovere di Monte l´Abbate, and in 1804 his nephew, Johann Nepomuk Count von Wengerský, inherited the rule. He was followed in 1827 by the Barons Laudon. Until the middle of the 19th century Slavkov always remained subordinate to Bystřice.
After the replacement of patrimonial Slavkov / Slawkow formed from 1850 a community in the district authority Holešov . Most of the residents made their living from agriculture, which was dominated by the cultivation of grain, livestock and fruit growing. Another part worked in the forest. There were two sandstone quarries at Chlum, in one of the foundations for the Prague National Theater was broken in 1868 . The soft sandstone from Slavkov was also used in the construction of the Wenceslas Cathedral in Olomouc . On November 17, 1924, the Ministry of the Interior approved Mayor Alois Černocký's request to add pod Hostýnem / am Hostein to the place name . Since 1961 the community belongs to Okres Kroměříž.
