history

The first written mention of Mrlin was in 1348. In 1365 Boček I of Podebrady bought the Mirlyn estate . In 1368 the place was referred to as Myrlyn and in 1405 as Mrlyn . Between 1373 and 1444 Mrlyn belonged to the Obřany castle . At that time the estate consisted of two villages, Hornij Mrlyn and Dolnij Mrlyn . The former became extinct in the second half of the 15th century during the Bohemian-Hungarian War. Dolnij Mrlin has been a knight's seat since the beginning of the 16th century. In 1520 Václav Obešlík von Lipultovice left the fortress and the village Dolnij Mrlin to Jeroným von Bašť.

In 1552 Mrlijnka was called desolate. A little later the place was repopulated and in 1555 it was part of the Bystřice manor. The fortress was not rebuilt and its exact location is no longer known. The following owners were the lords of Lobkowicz and, from 1650, Johann von Rottal . This united the Bystřice with Holešov to one great rule and began with the recatholization of the subjects. In 1763 the line of the Counts of Rottal died out in the male line; when the lordship Holešov-Bystřice was divided among the heirs, Mrlinek was again subject to Bystřice. In 1789 the della Rovere di Monte l´Abbate followed as the new owner and in 1804 Johann Nepomuk Count Wengerský acquired the rule. From 1827 the Bystřice estate belonged to Count Laudon. Until the middle of the 19th century Mrlinek always remained submissive to Bystřice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Mrlinek formed from 1850 a community in the district authority Holleschau . Since 1872 the municipality carried the name Mrlínky . The current place name Mrlínek has been in use since 1881. Between 1940 and 1941 a cemetery was built on a hill on the road to Hranice. Before that, the burials took place in the cemetery of the parish church of Loukov . After the dissolution of the Okres Holešov, the community was assigned to the Okres Kroměříž in 1960. On August 15, 1976 Mrlínek was incorporated into Bystřice pod Hostýnem. Mrlínek has been independent again since the beginning of 1994.
