history
The first written mention of Morckwycz (Morckwitz) comes from 1222. From 1353 the east bordering village Slížany is documented as de Slezan . The festival located in the market town of Morkovice was a medieval mansion, which in 1468 withstood the attacks of the troops of the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus . Morkovice, to which Slížany also belonged, was owned by the family of Zástřizel from 1480 . Later the castle property changed hands more frequently, the last time it was acquired by Count Philipp Kinsky in 1911 , who owned it until it was expropriated in 1948.
In 1960 the place Morkovice and the municipality Slížany were united to the city Morkovice-Slížany .
