Medlov (German Medlau ) is a district of the municipality Zborovice in the Czech Republic . It is located eleven kilometers southwest of Kroměříž and belongs to the Okres Kroměříž .

geography

Medlov stretches in the northeast of the Litentschitzer hill country on the left side over the valley of the Lipinka brook. To the north rise the Hambalky (374 m), in the northeast of the Troják ( Dreystein , 396 m) and southwest of the Kleštěnec (498 m) and the Přední díly (343 m).

Neighboring towns are Srnov, Vlčí Doly and Věžky in the north, Popovice and Rataje in the Northeast, Jarohněvice , Drahlov and Šelešovice the east, Nětčice and Zborovice in the southeast, Troubky in the south, Skavsko, Slížany and Morkovice in the southwest, Pačlavice and Prasklice the west and Počenice and Tetětice in the northwest.

history

Medlaw was first mentioned in writing in 1356 when Buzek von Počenice sold the village to Racek von Zborovice and his brothers. The next owner was from Medlow in 1365 Matěj von Rataje. Jan von Morkovice followed later. In 1583 the Dřínov manor bought the estate. During the Thirty Years' War the village was deserted, and in 1670 only five of Mydlow's 22 properties were still in use . From 1720 the place was called Medlow again . In 1770 there were 136 people in Medlow .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Medlow / Medlau 1850 a municipality in the district administration Kroměříž. The current name Medlov has been used since 1872. In 1880 the village had 322 inhabitants, in 1900 there were 364. At the beginning of 1961 Medlov was incorporated into Zborovice . At that time the place had 496 inhabitants. In 1991 there were 262 people living in the village. In the 2001 census , 92 houses and 244 residents were counted.
