To the north rises the Hrad (363 m), in the northeast the Pastviska (318 m), east of the Kamenec (295 m) and in the northwest of the Holý Kopec (360 m).

history

Rosceni was first mentioned in a document in 1131 in an inventory of the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik , in which a portion of land is listed as the property of the Prerau archdeaconate . In 1353 Stephan von Sternberg bought the Rostienie farm , his son Albrecht bequeathed Rosczenye in 1376 to the Augustinian monastery in Šternberk, which he founded . In 1384 the place was called Rosczeny and in 1417 Rosczenie . The subsequent owners of the estate were from 1480 the lords of Zierotin and from 1567 Jan Vilém von Víckov. In 1650, Johann von Rottal acquired the estate and gave it to his lordship at Holešov . The place name Rosstin has been handed down from 1672 . The oldest local seal dates from 1699, it bears the inscription PECZET OBECZNI DIEDINI ROSSTIENI . Most of the residents lived from yarn spinning and linen weaving. In 1717 a weaving guild was established in Prusinovice, to which the weavers from Bořenovice , Roštění, Kostelec, Líšná and Pacetluky were also affiliated. In 1833 around 100 people died in a cholera epidemic . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village remained subservient to Holešov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Roštěny / Roschtin formed from 1850 a community in the district authority Holleschau . The place name Roštění has been in use since 1872 . The weaving trade, which was not competitive due to outdated technology with the flourishing textile industry, experienced its decline during this time and agriculture became the main source of income. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1899. The village was electrified in 1927. The kindergarten was established in 1947. At the beginning of 1961, the community was added to the Okres Kroměříž . Since the school closed in 1982, the local children have been educated in Kostelec. Ethnographically the village belongs to Hanna .

coat of arms

Roštění has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1999. It was designed by the heraldist Jiří Louda. The three-part shield shows the coat of arms of the Counts of Rottal in the upper part and on the left the silver-black bars from the coat of arms of the Prusinovský von Víckov.
