history

The first written mention of Cuncouicih took place in 1131 in a list of properties of the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik . In 1349 the village was called Cuncowicz , 1437 Kunkowicz , 1463 Cunkowicz and 1482 Kunkovice .

After the abolition of patrimonial Kunkovice / Kunkowitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Kroměříž. In 1869 the village had 370 inhabitants and in 1880 there were 400. The inhabitants lived from agriculture. In 1930 there were 343 people in Kunkovice, in 1950 there were only 257. The drastic decline in population due to emigration continued in the second half of the 20th century and continues to this day. At the beginning of 1986 Kunkovice was incorporated into Litenčice. Since July 1, 1990, Kunkovice has again formed its own municipality. In 1991 the community had 104 inhabitants, ten years later there were only 74. Most of the houses in the village are now used as holiday homes.
