history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1141 in an inventory of the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik . In 1381 Vitonicz was registered in the Olomouc table as the property of the Lords of Sternberg . The other owners of the estate included the lords of Zerotein from 1480 and Wilhelm von Pernstein and Helfenstein , who joined Vitonicz to the Helfenstein rule, from 1490 . During the Thirty Years War in 1642 the Swedes sacked the village and burned it down.

After the abolition of patrimonial Wittonice / Wittonitz formed from 1850 a community in the district authority Holleschau . On September 29, 1869, a major fire destroyed 104 houses. From 1872 the village was called Vítonice and from 1900 Vitonice . The current place name Vítonice has been official since 1924. After the dissolution of the Okres Holešov, the community was assigned to the Okres Kroměříž in 1960. On January 1, 1986, Vítonice was incorporated into Bystřice pod Hostýnem. Since the beginning of 1992 Vítonice has been independent again.
