Ernst Friedrich Glocker

Ernst Friedrich Glocker (born May 1, 1793 in Stuttgart ; † July 18, 1858 , ibid) was a German mineralogist , geologist and paleontologist.

Life

Glocker studied philosophy, theology and natural science in Tübingen . After administering clerical offices in Bulach and Aalen, he studied botany in Halle and mineralogy in Berlin after 1817. In 1819 he completed his habilitation in Breslau and in 1824 became professor of mineralogy and in 1825 prorector at the Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau. In 1830 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . In 1848 he became an honorary member of the Association for Patriotic Natural History in Württemberg . From 1854 he lived as a private citizen partly in Halle, partly in Görlitz and died on July 18, 1858.
