The Lords of Prusinowitz , sometimes also written by Prussinowitz (Czech z Prusinovic ) was a Moravian noble family, which first appeared in documents from 1349 and held numerous Moravian and Bohemian lands. His parent company is not in the village of (Neu-) Prusinowitz (before and today Ranošov , named after the founder Ranosch) on the Wesselicko estate , but in Prusinowitz of the same name , Holleschau (Holešov) district (formerly Prerau district) in northern Moravia.

Most sources cite Sezema von Prusinowitz (approx. 1280-1350) as the progenitor of the sex , from whom all branches of the lordly family "von Prusinowitz" are supposed to be derived.

A well-known branch of the von Prusinowitz family is the “z Prusinovic a Podštátu” (German “von Prusinowitz and Bodenstadt” ) family, whose progenitor is T (h) as Podstatský z Prusinovic (German Thaddeus / Thomas von Prusinowitz and Bodenstadt ). He was born around 1360, died after 1417 and acquired the Bodenstadt rule around 1408 . The rule and ownership of Bodenstadt held this line until the Thirty Years War. The branch of Prusinowitz and Bodenstadt was later connected to the House of Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn , from which the family of the Counts of Podstatzky-Liechtenstein, Barons of Prusinowitz, is derived. They are not related by blood to the Prusinovský von Víckov family .

Thas von Prusinowitz and Bodenstadt ). In 1416 he assigned his wife Anna 600 "Mark" interest (6 pounds "groschen") from this rule as an annual pension.

Podstatzky line from Prusinowitz

The following descendants of Tas z Prusinovic a Podštátu, who wrote from Prusinowitz and (on) Bodenstadt from 1408 to 1500 and Podstatzky from Prusinowitz after 1500 , are considered to be documented filiation:

4th generation

  1. Hynek (Hynko) Podstatský z Prusinovic (German Ignaz / Heinrich Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ), († after 1453). Alena von Kokor took him in 1453 on her marriage estate (Bodenstadt) in community. He was a Moravian Colonel Landschreiber and gained a name during the controversy for the throne when he fell away from King George of Podebrady in 1449 and fell to Mathias of Hungary . In 1471, after the death of Georg, Hynek turned to Wladislaw von Bohemia . In 1480 a Hynek Podstatský in Bodenstadt is mentioned in a document, who is probably identical with him.
  2. Jan Podstatský z Prusinovic (German Johann Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ), († after 1437), married to Anna von Czekin . He was among the nobles who in 1429 took action against the devastation of the episcopal and other estates by Hawel von Kogetein . He reached an agreement with his brother Hynek (Ignaz) regarding the mutual possessions, was the owner of Bodenstadt after his father Tas and in 1437 prescribed his wife 25 "Mark" (25 shock "Groschen") a year in interest from the villages of Padesát Lánů / Fünzighuben, Kowarschov / Schmiedsau, Poczkov / Poschkau and half libtan ( Luboměř pod Strážnou / Liebenthal ).
  3. N. Podstatský z Prusinovic (dt. N. Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ), (1464) in Silesia married to knight Budiwoj von Morawitz and Wickstein.
  4. Prokop Podstatský z Prusinovic († 1466). In 1464 Prokop acquired the Rymnitz and Koliczin estates in Bodenstadt in the Hradisch district. In the same year he sold the Prusinowitz family estate with the desolate villages of Jareslawitz, Kolkow and Lhota to the brothers Arkle (Arthur) and Philipp von Wiczkow (Wischkov), who after the purchase took on the nickname Prusinowsky and established the Prusinovský von Víckov family .
Pilnáček, who wrote the standard work on the genealogy of the Podstatzky von Prusinowitz family (see literature below ), suspects a further line in the 4th generation, which originates from the above-mentioned Mladota z Prusinovic (around 1325-1373).

5th generation
Depending on the sources, the information on who in the 5th generation belongs to which parents of the 4th generation vary. For example, the parents of Václav Podstatský z Prusinovic (German: Wenzel Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ) are mentioned in the literature on the one hand Johann von Prusinowitz and his wife Anna von Czekyn, on the other hand Prokop von Prusinowitz and his wife Magdalena von Zakowitz. It is undisputed that Václav is a 5th generation Prusinowitz:

  1. Václav (Venceslav) Podstatský z Prusinovic (dt. Wenzel [Wenceslaus] Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ), († 1482)

    6th generation
Most authors admit that Jetřich von Prusinowitz is a son of Václav and a member of the 6th generation. However, there is uncertainty as to whether he should not be counted among the 5th generation and whether several Jetřichs belonged to the 6th generation of the family. Jetřich's ancestry has not yet been clearly established. It is undisputed that Jetřich had at least ten children:
    1. Jetřich (Getřich) Podstatský z Prusinovic (dt. Dietrich Podstatzky von Prusinowitz ), († around 1531), married to Esther z Mejnhartic (dt. Esther von Meinhartitz ). In 1492 he appears as the owner of Bodenstadt. In 1495 he accepted Georg Sladelniczky (Sedlnicky) von Choditz and his son, Johann, on Bodenstadt, Kolczin and Rymnitz as a community. In 1504 Jetřich bought the village of Lemna (Lessczna) from Wenceslaus Skryhensty in Doloplas ; In 1506 he bought the villages of Buchlowitz (Budlowitz) and Brestka from Georg von Domsomilitz. And in 1517 he added the fortress Tršice / Trschitz / Trssicz with village, farm, patronage and the desolate villages Odiehrschiby (Otiehřiby) with farm and village of Zukrowitz (Zakřowitz) with fortress, farm to the lordship of Bodenstadt. Podstatzky-Liechtenstein line

With the death of Franz Anton von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn in 1761, the lineage of the Counts of Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn became extinct in the male line. He bequeathed the Telč rule to his cousin Count Alois Podstatský von Prusinowitz (brother of the Olomouc cathedral dean Leopold Anton von Podstatzky ) with the condition that the name and coat of arms of Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn be connected with those of Podstatský-Prusinowitz. Since 1762 this branch of the family has been called "Podstatzky-Lichtenstein". Alois Graf Podstatzky-Lichtenstein, Baron von Prusinowitz (1723-1793) was governor of the Duchy of Styria from October 23, 1773 to 1782.

Telč and Velký Újezd belonged to the estates . The seat of the family was initially the Veselíčko Castle . In 1796 Leopold Franz Podstatzky-Liechtenstein moved the seat to Telč Castle . The family burial is in the crypt of the Church of St. James in Velký Újezd.

Podstatzky-Thonsern line

Litenčice Castle

After the male line of the Barons von Thonsern died out in 1778 with the death of Franz Josef von Thonsern, the inheritance fell to Franz Anton Podstatzky von Prusinowitz on condition that the name Thonsern be continued. The seat of the Podstatzky-Thonsern line was the Litenčice chateau . The castle, expropriated in 1948, was returned to the family in 1993.
