history

The parish church was first mentioned on June 10, 1284 in a document in which Pastor Tilo is mentioned. The current church dates from the second half of the 14th century. On February 24, 1379, Duke Boleslaus II established a collegiate monastery at the parish church . This gave it the rank of collegiate church and was popularly called Glogau Cathedral .

In the 16th century the Oppersdorff chapel was added, where members of the noble family rest. In 1765 the church caught fire, the interior and the towers were destroyed. From 1776 to 1781, the interior of the church was redesigned in Baroque style under the direction of Prelate Anton Borek. The paintings are by Franz Anton Sebastini , figures and three-dimensional ornaments were created by Johann Schubert. In 1810 the collegiate foundation was secularized. In 1906 an extensive renovation of the church took place.
