Dominik Berger (born April 11, 1983 in Oberstdorf ) is a former Austrian triathlete . He is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 1998 Dominik Berger started his first triathlon in Zell am See and since 2001 for the Austrian Triathlon Association.

Junior national champion winter triathlon 1999

In 1999 he was Austrian champion in the winter triathlon and in 2002 second in the Austrian national triathlon championships for juniors. In 2001 and again in 2002 he won the Brigantium Triathlon over the Olympic distance on Lake Constance .

He mainly started in triathlon competitions over the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running). His father Helmut has also been active as a triathlete for many years and also competes in the long distance in the age group.

In April 2011, Dominik Berger started in South Africa for the first time over the long or Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and came eleventh out of 1,800 starters as the best Austrian.

Ironman Hawaii 2013

In August 2013, with his sixth place at Ironman Canada, he collected for the first time a sufficient number of points in the Kona Pro Ranking System of the WTC for a starting place at Ironman Hawaii , where he finished 53rd in October (29th place in the professional ranking) .

In 2015 he was third in the national triathlon championship on the short and middle distance. Dominik Berger was trained by Marcel Diechtler - Kate Allen's husband (2004 Olympic champion). He was a member of the Skinfit Racing Team and now lives in Wolfurt . In September 2015 he declared the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon his last start as a professional athlete.

Dominik Berger has been married since May 2017. Today he is part of the organization team of the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon .
