Maurice Clavel (born February 3, 1988 ) is a German duathlete , triathlete and European runner-up in the middle distance (2014). He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Maurice Clavel was active as a swimmer in his youth and switched to triathlon in 2007 at the age of 19. He starts for the AST Süßen club and in France he competes in the Grand Prix de Triathlon championship series for the Metz Triathlon club . He is trained by Luboš Bílek .

Vice European Triathlon Champion 2014

In August 2014 in Wiesbaden he was the best German Vice European Champion in the middle distance (half Ironman distance: 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running).

German vice-champion triathlon middle distance 2016

At the Challenge Heilbronn in June 2016, he became German runner-up in the triathlon middle distance. Due to the weather, the race had to be held as a duathlon (5 km running, 93 km cycling and 21.1 km running) but the DTU decided to make the result the German Triathlon Championship . In September he finished eighth in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Australia.

In April 2018 the 30-year-old finished third at the Ironman South Africa and in August he won his first Ironman 70.3 race in the Ironman 70.3 Vichy . Until 2018 he started for the BMC Vifit Pro Triathlon Team .

Clavel lives in Freiburg.
