Criteria for the best times
Each athlete is listed here with their personal best. Times under 8:10 hours since October 1982, when Manuel Debus and Detlef Kühnel started at the Ironman Hawaii and thus established the actual history of the triathlon in Germany , were taken into account .
An official measurement of the routes, as in athletics with the Jones counter , has not yet been done in triathlon. The races can only be compared to a limited extent or to a limited extent due to the fact that the length is not exactly precise. The times for one and the same competition, as in Hawaii, are not comparable due to different weather conditions, route changes, construction sites, condition or change of the road surface, relocations and changes in the transition areas. The times listed here are results that have been achieved in competitions with an official slipstream ban.
Over the years, the route in Roth in Franconia has proven to be the fastest race in the world over this distance with around 40% (Ironman and Challenge competition). Competitions in which only one duathlon was held due to weather conditions or partial distances were greatly shortened are not taken into account.
The results of the women can be found in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .
