This race on the Catalan Costa del Maresme was held for the first time on October 5, 2014 - after the organizer of the event, which has been organized here since 2009 under the name Challenge Barcelona-Maresme , Tritlon Spain SL, was taken over by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) .
