The Ironman Boulder is a former triathlon sporting event over the Ironman distance (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km bike and 42.195 km run) held annually since 2014 in June or August in Boulder, Colorado, United States.

organization

This event was organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and 50 starting places for the World Championships at the Ironman Hawaii were allocated here.

  • The swimming course was one lap in the Boulder Reservoir.
  • The 180 km bike course led over one lap and has an altitude difference of 1220 meters. The route heads north to Carter Lake and ends back at Boulder High School.
  • The running route comprised two laps with three turning points and led through the town and the surrounding area.
Boulder

In 2015 there were almost 3,000 athletes at the start. The Ironman Boulder was held in 2015 and 2016 as an age group competition - that is, the winners do not receive any prize money and no qualification points are awarded for the Kona Pro ranking.
The event has been scheduled for June since 2017.

The last race here was in June 2019 and no further event has been announced for 2020.

For women, the record, set by Lauren Brandon in 2019 , is 9:09:09 h. The course record set by the American Matt Hanson has been 7:57:03 h since 2019.
