Matthew (Matt) Hanson (born May 7, 1985 in West Concord ) is an American triathlete and multiple Ironman winner. He is included in the best list of American triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 2011 he started his first triathlon. Matt Hanson finished ninth in his age group in 2013 at the Ironman Hawaii (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km bike and 42.195 km run). He has been a professional in the First Endurance Team since the 2014 season .

In April 2017 he won the Ironman Texas (Memorial Hermann Ironman North American Championship) with his winning time of 7:52:44 hours and thus the fastest time ever achieved by an American on the Ironman distance.

In April 2018, he was able to improve his best time in the North American Championship by 13 minutes and win the race for the third time after 7:39:25 hours. In June 2019, the 34-year-old won the Ironman Boulder and set a new course record with his winning time of 7:57:03 hours.

He has been married since 2009 and lives with his wife in Alta .
