The Ironman Chattanooga is an annual in September Triathlon -Sportveranstaltung about the Ironman as distance (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in Chattanooga (Tennessee) in the United States of America.

organization

This event is organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), a subsidiary of the Chinese Dalian Wanda Group .

The first Ironman took place here on September 28, 2014. There were 50 starting places for the Ironman Hawaii among the 2322 athletes . For professional triathletes, prize money of $ 25,000 was announced. H. the fastest man and the fastest woman will each receive $ 5,000, and a fifth-placed professional triathlete will receive an additional $ 1,000.

In September 2015 there was a very close decision: The men's race was only decided in the finish sprint and the fastest three were separated by just eight seconds.

Chattanooga

In 2016 there were no professional athletes among the women and in 2017 there were no professionals among the men. In 2018, after flooding in the region, the race had to be held without swimming over a shortened distance. There were no professionals at the start for women in 2018. The last race took place here on September 29, 2019.

Route

  • The swim course is in the Tennessee River and ends as an exit point in Ross's Landing Park .
  • The 180 km bike course over two laps is about 1030 m and leads to the north of Georgia.
  • The running course comprises two laps (200 m) and leads along the Tennessee Riverwalk, Veterans Bridge, North Shore, Walnut Street Bridge and the Riverfront Parkway.

The course record was set by the Estonian Kirill Kotsegarov in 2015 with his winning time of 8:08:32 h and in the women it has been held by Angela Naeth with 8:54:55 h since 2014 .
