Carrie Lester (born January 28, 1981 in Brisbane ) is an Australian triathlete . She is triathlon world champion over the Olympic distance (2009) and long distance in the age group 25–29 (2009) as well as six-time Ironman winner (2010–2019) and is included in the best list of triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 2005 Carrie Lester started triathlon and in 2010 she won the Ironman Australia at her first start on the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in Port Macquarie on the Australian east coast.

In September 2009 she became world champion in Australia over the Olympic triathlon distance in her age group 25-29 and in October she also achieved the same in the long distance. Lester has been a professional athlete since 2009 - mainly in the middle and long distance.

Ironman 2010 winner

In June 2012 she won her second gold medal on the Ironman distance on the Australian north coast. In 2015 she won the Ironman Chattanooga and in July 2016, as in the previous year, she finished second at the Challenge Roth .

In France, she won the Embrunman in the long distance triathlon in August 2016 . At the Ironman World Championships, she finished seventh in Hawaii in October 2017. In August 2018, she won the Embrunman long distance for the second time after 2016.

In June 2019, she won her fifth Ironman race with Ironman France . In November, the then 38-year-old won the eleventh edition of the Ironman Mexico after 8:38:41 h with a personal best and a new course record .

Carrie Lester lives in Queensland .
