Coordinates: 35 ° 7 ′ S , 150 ° 30 ′ E The Shoalhaven City , officially City of Shoalhaven is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 4,566.7 km² and has around 100,000 inhabitants (as of 2016).
Shoalhaven is located on the state's Pacific coast in the Illawarra region, about 155 km south of the metropolis Sydney and 220 km northeast of the Australian capital Canberra . The area comprises 167 hamlets and towns, including Basin View, Bawley Point, Bendalong, Berrara, Berry, Bomaderry, Bream Beach, Brooman, Burrill Lake, Callala Bay, Cudmirrah, Culburra Beach, Cunjurong, Currarong, Falls Creek, Greenwell Point, Huskisson , Hyams Beach, Kangaroo Valley, Kioloa, Lake Conjola, Manyana, Milton , Mollymook, Nowra , Orient Point, Sanctuary Point, Shoalhaven Heads, St Georges Basin, Sussex Inlet, Tabourie Lake, Termeil, Tomerong, Ulladulla, Vincentia, Wandandian, Wrights Beach and Yalwal as well as parts of Cambewarra and Jaspers Brush. The seat of the City Council is in the north of the LGA in the Nowra district of Nowra-Bomaderry. The latter has about 30,000 inhabitants.

The Shoalhaven City Council has 13 members who are elected by LGA residents. Four members each come from Ward 1, 2 and 3, the chairman and mayor is also elected by all residents of the LGA. The three electoral districts are determined independently of the localities.
