Milton is an Australian city in New South Wales , Australia with around 1,600 inhabitants (as of 2016). It is located in the administrative area (LGA) City of Shoalhaven 4 km north of Ulladulla directly on the Princes Highway .

The coastal area at Milton-Ulladulla was first discovered by James Cook while sailing north in 1770 and describing nearby Pigeon House Mountain . About 50 years later, Thomas Kendall, the first European settler to come to this region in 1828, began to fell trees on Narrawallee Creek, very close to Milton. The city of Milton was founded in 1860.
