Eriosyce rodentiophila is a species of plant in the genus Eriosyce from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Eriosyce rodentiophila grows individually with almost spherical to spherical shoots and reaches a diameter of 12 to 32 centimeters. The top of the head covered with white wool. The fibrous roots arise from small tap roots . There are 18 to 35 blunt ribs that are notched to form cusps. The needle-like, thick, upwardly curved thorns are horn-colored and turn gray later. The four to eight central spines are 3 to 5 centimeters long, the twelve to 15 radial spines 2 to 3 centimeters long.

The cream colored flowers appear from older areoles. They are 2.5 to 4 inches long and 2.2 to 3 inches in diameter. Your flower tube and the pericarpel are covered with thick white wool and stiff bristles. The reddish yellow, 2.5 to 3 centimeters long fruits are covered with wool. They don't tear open.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Eriosyce rodentiophila is widespread in northern Chile near the coast. It was first described in 1980 by Friedrich Ritter .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. listed as endangered.
