The Abu Dhabi International Triathlon was a triathlon competition that took place every March from 2010 to 2014 in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
This competition was held here for the first time on March 13, 2010. The swim starts on the bank just behind the Emirates Palace Hotel . At the first edition in 2010, 800 and in 2011 already 1,500 triathletes from 51 countries were at the start.
In 2015, the races on the Olympic distance were included in their world championship racing series by the international triathlon association ITU ( International Triathlon Union ).
Results
The triathlon competitions were held here over the long, the short and the sprint distance. Compared to the Ironman races, these races had longer bike stages and therefore shorter running routes.
Long distance
The distances here were 3 km swimming, 200 km cycling and 20 km running. The Spaniard Eneko Llanos set the course record in 2010 with his winning time of 6:34:37 h and in the women’s category, the British Julie Dibens has also held the fastest time on the long distance since the first event with her winning time of 2010 in 7:08:25 h.
