Melissa Hauschildt (* 13. April 1983 in Adelaide as Melissa Rollison ) is a former Australian athlete and triathlete . She is long distance triathlon world champion (2013), multiple Ironman winner (2014–2017) and twice won the Ironman 70.3 World Championship (2011, 2013).

Career

Middle-distance runner Melissa Rollison celebrated her first success in 2000 when she became the Australian champion over 3000 m obstacle . She was able to defend this title in 2001 and 2002 and win it again in 2006 and 2008. In 2006, Rollison won the silver medal over 3000 m obstacle behind world champion Dorcus Inzikuru at the Commonwealth Games . At the 2006 Cross Country World Championships , the Australian took third place in the team competition on the short distance, and in 2008 she was able to repeat this result.

Rollison then switched to triathlon , where she celebrated her first success in 2010 with a second place at the Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific .

In 2011 she won three competitions over half the Ironman distance in a short time. Just one year after her first start in the middle distance, she also won the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in September 2011 .

In June 2013 she became world champion in the long distance and in September she was able to win the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas again after 2011.

In May 2014 she won her first Ironman start in Port Macquarie, Australia . She had to cancel her planned start at Ironman Hawaii in October 2014 due to an injury.

In March 2015 she won the Ironman Melbourne . In July 2016 Hauschildt won the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt am Main. In Wiesbaden she also won the Ironman 70.3 European Championship in August 2016 and in September she came second at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Australia.

In April 2018 she was able to improve her personal best at the North American Championships and win an Ironman race for the sixth time after 8:31:04 h. After the race it became known that the bike course was shortened by three kilometers and that the times would therefore not be recognized as official Ironman records. In June, the then 35-year-old won the Ironman European Championships in Denmark for the second time since 2016.

In 2019, she declared her pregnancy and took a maternity leave.
