Lisa Bentley (born November 28, 1968 ) is a former Canadian triathlete and eleven-time Ironman winner (3.86 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running).

Career

Since the late 1990s, Lisa Bentley started in the triathlon, mainly on the long distance.

In 1998 Lisa Bentley won the Strongman All Japan Triathlon on the long distance and was able to break the course record by 19 minutes. In 1988 she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis .

Ironman 2000 winner

In March 2000, she achieved her first Ironman victory in New Zealand.

In 2005 Lisa Bentley won the Ironman Germany in Frankfurt am Main . In October 2006 she was third behind the winner Michellie Jones at the Ironman Hawaii and second at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater (Florida).

At Ironman Australia , she managed five wins in a row from 2002 to 2006. Before her, Louise Bonham achieved four wins and Lori Bowden three on the Australian east coast in Port Macquarie .

After 2009 she no longer appeared internationally. Today Lisa Bentley works as a coach and trainer.

Awards

  • In January 2014 Lisa Bentley was awarded the Canada's Hall of Fame triathlon for her sporting success together with Simon Whitfield .
