Stefan Holzner (born May 20, 1968 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a former German triathlete and five-time Ironman winner (1995-2004). He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

The trained chef Stefan Holzner played tennis in his youth and became Bavarian champion at the age of 16.

He started triathlon in 1989, started as a triathlon professional in 1991 and in June 1997 he finished eleventh at the ITU World Championships as part of the "Triathlon International de Nice".

His strength was cycling and his Ironman best time is 8 hours and 9 minutes (1999). Since 2003 he has been a member of the Opel Triathlon Team and he started for TSV Bad Reichenhall. In 2003 and 2004 he won the Ironman Germany in Frankfurt am Main .

In 2004 he became German champion in the middle-distance triathlon in Kulmbach, after having been runner-up in the previous year.

In 2006 he declared his sporting career over. He runs a hotel on Thumsee near Bad Reichenhall. Holzner has been married since 1997 and has two children.
