Christian Prochnow
Christian Prochnow (born June 19, 1982 in Potsdam ) is a former German triathlete and Olympian (2008).
Career
Christian Prochnow started triathlon in 1997 and was a member of the B-team of the German Triathlon Union . He started for the Stadtwerke Team Witten and was trained by Ron Schmid .
In 2001 the Potsdam-based man won the title with the team at the European Junior Championships and was sixth in the individual as in the World Junior Championships. In 2002 he became the German U23 duathlon champion. In 2005 Christian Prochnow finished eleventh at the U23 World Championship in Japan and the following year Prochnow finished sixth at the German championship.
His best year so far was 2007. He was runner-up with the team and German team champion with his club. He also finished ninth in the World Cup races in Hungary. In 2008 Prochnow finished second at the European Cup races in Pontevedra and fifth at the World Cup races in Madrid . With that he prevailed against the favored Maik Petzold and Andreas Raelert in the fight for the last Olympic ticket to be awarded . At the games, he finished 15th.
In 2013 Prochnow announced his retirement as a professional triathlete. He was a member of the German Triathlon Union for twelve years . The ITU World Triathlon Hamburg marked his departure from the international stage as part of the ITU World Championship Series , after which he took part in competitions in the Triathlon Bundesliga and smaller competitions such as the Frankfurt City Triathlon .
Prochnow has been a trainer in Paralympic swimming in Potsdam since 2013. There he supervises the athletes during country training in order to train athletics, strength and coordination.
