Gregor Buchholz (born April 17, 1986 in Potsdam ) is a German triathlete . He was German champion on the sprint distance (2015).
Career
Gregor Buchholz has been running triathlon since 2002.
He began his training in Berlin at the SSC Berlin Grünau under coach Sebastian Hauer and later moved to Potsdam
In 2007 he was triathlon world champion U23 in Hamburg and in August 2010 he was sixth at the triathlon world championship over half the Olympic distance in Lausanne.
Gregor Buchholz was a member of the B-team of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) from 2012 to 2016 . He competes for Metz Triathlon in the French championship series Grand Prix de Triathlon .
In the 2014 World Championship series ( ITU World Championship Series 2014 ) he finished eleventh as the best German.
German champion triathlon sprint distance 2015
In June 2015 he became German triathlon champion on the sprint distance and in the 2015 world rankings he was the third best German in 57th place.
In the two-year qualification period for a starting place at the 2016 Olympic Summer Games , Gregor Buchholz achieved the second-best placement of the male German athletes on the ITU Olympic qualification list in 34th place, but did not meet the athletic qualification criteria agreed by the DTU and DOSB and was not nominated.
He finished the 2016 World Championship racing series in 31st place.
After winning bronze with the mixed relay at the triathlon in Hamburg, Gregor Buchholz announced the end of his career in July 2016. He has been studying environmental technology at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences since the 2016/2017 winter semester . In August 2016, he started the middle distance at Ironman 70.3 Germany ( Ironman 70.3 European Championships ), where he finished eleventh (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running).
In August 2018 he started the long distance at the Ironman Tallinn (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and finished seventh in Estonia. He is trained by Ron Schmidt and Roland Knoll .
Gregor Buchholz lives with his wife, triathlete Eva Buchholz (German Middle Distance Champion 2012) in Wiesbaden , together they are hosts of the Bewegungsarten podcast .
