Justus Nieschlag (born March 9, 1992 in Hildesheim ) is a German triathlete . He is a member of the B-team, junior European champion (2011) and German champion on the triathlon sprint distance (2016, 2017).

Career

In Germany, Nieschlag, who grew up in Lehrte , competes for Lehrter SV . In 2007 he was accepted into the D / C squad of the German Triathlon Union.

In 2010 and 2011 Nieschlag took part in four ITU competitions and achieved three top ten placements.

Junior European Champion Triathlon 2011

In 2011 he became the German triathlon champion among the juniors. Since 2011 he has also participated in the First Bundesliga. In June 2011 Justus Nieschlag became Junior European Champion (750 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running) in Pontevedra ( Spain ) and in September also Junior World Champion in Beijing .

In 2012 he started for the winner EJOT Team Buschhütten and he won an elite bronze medal in Istanbul. In April he became vice European champion with the German mixed team in Israel . In France , Nieschlag was nominated by Metz Tri for the Grand Final of the Club Championship series Grand Prix de Triathlon 2012 in Nice and finished 50th, his club 15th (out of 16) and 11th in the overall club ranking.

In the ITU World Championship Series 2015 (world rankings 2015) he finished 23rd as the best German.

German champion triathlon sprint distance 2016

In the two-year qualification period for a starting place at the 2016 Olympic Summer Games , Justus Nieschlag achieved the third-best placement of the male German athletes on the ITU Olympic qualification list with 69th place, but did not meet the sporting qualification criteria agreed by the DTU and DOSB .
In June 2016 he became German triathlon champion on the sprint distance at the T3 Triathlon Düsseldorf .

Military World Champion Triathlon 2017

In August 2017, the then 25-year-old became military world champion in Sassenberg.

In the 2018 World Championship racing series , he finished 40th as the best German.
