Peguera (unofficially Castilian Paguera ) is a tourist resort in the southwest of the Balearic island of Mallorca . It belongs to the municipality of Calvià .

tourism

The place Peguera is dominated by hotels, apartment houses and restaurants. The majority of tourists who visit Peguera come from German-speaking countries. Peguera is mainly visited by German families in the high season. In the off-season, mostly German pensioners and middle-aged tour groups are on site. The entertainment offer is accordingly geared towards German vacationers.

Bulevar de Peguera

In the last few years various changes have been made to the central area of the village, including the filling of sand on Palmira Beach, the construction of a bypass and other traffic calming measures. The Bulevar de Peguera, the central promenade with numerous small shoe, watch and handbag shops as well as restaurants and souvenir shops, is almost car-free from 7 p.m. and then turns into a pedestrian zone. In the 1980s the street was still passable in both directions and entertainment establishments (discos and similar) with the accompanying phenomena dominated the street scene. The above measures have had a positive impact on tourism. Due to the lack of other employment opportunities, it has been of major economic importance for the place for decades.

In the west of Peguera is the district of Cala Fornells with the varied architecture by Pedro Otzoup.

Bathing beaches

Peguera beach

The place has a total of three beaches with the Platja Palmira, Platja de Tora and Platja de la Romana. The beaches slope gently into the water and are therefore also suitable for smaller children. All three beaches are monitored by lifeguards during the daytime in the main season. The beaches are connected by a promenade.

Surroundings

In the area there are hiking opportunities in the hilly hinterland with pine forests. There are also various sports and leisure activities to choose from.

traffic

There is a regular bus connection to Palma every day until the evening hours . The MA-1 motorway from Andratx to Palma has been completed since March 2007 , so that there is a fast connection to the island's capital. The center of Palma is around 24 kilometers away and the center of Andratx is around 8 kilometers away.
